When I become anxious, it’s usually because I’m thinking of the past or the future. I’ve either allowed my mind to review past unpleasant events or worry about future possibilities.
We can’t change the past and the future is only imagined.
When you are caught in a loop of negative thoughts, bring your mind to the present. In this moment, are you comfortable, clothed, fed? You are probably seated in a comfy chair, using your phone or device, maybe sipping your coffee. You are taking a moment for yourself. You are safe.
In this moment, all is well. Living in the present will calm you.
