Do You Find Joy Outside of Work?

Woman Violinist

Do you love your job? Great! But what do you do when the work day is done? The key to living a fulfilling life is to have fun in your personal time.

If you have no personal hobbies or activities, now is the time to explore. Check out free events in your community. Introduce yourself to new people. Expand your horizons by taking classes in your areas of interest. Find your joy!

Now your joy is part of you, not your job.

You’ll have an amazing life!

You Deserve a Nap!

When we retire, we often go through a period of uncertainty. “What do I do now?” Without our 9 to 5 routine urging us to rise early, eat lunch at noon, and complete assigned tasks, we often flounder.

Use this time to pamper yourself. Get your mani-pedi on a Tuesday afternoon. No waiting! Do your shopping midday. No crowded aisles. Remember sleepy afternoons in the office? Stretch out on the couch and take a nap! Your time is yours!

Your time is finally yours. Remember that and enjoy!

Top 3 Keys to Motivation

You know you want to move forward in life, but don’t know how? Each day you wait is a loss. How do you motivate yourself to redesign your future?

Here are the top three essential keys to motivation.

Inspiration is critical to staying motivated and improving oneself. If you are not interested in your endeavors, your motivation level will never be high and you will not be able to sustain interest for very long. This applies to your work and your personal activities.

Take an honest look at your inspiration level. Are you excited about going to work or is it an obligation? You would be surprised at the number of people who choose a job or business that looks good on paper, but in reality does not interest them in the least.

Do you participate in boring activities just because your friends do? You will grow weary and disinterested pretty quickly because you have no inspiration or passion to sustain you.

If you do not like your work, think how you can re-focus your work to better match your needs or consider making a change entirely. Find outside hobbies and functions that interest you, and attend them with or without your friends.

Short and long-term goal setting is vital for anyone. If you do not set goals, you have no definite purpose or life path. Goals produce motivation and give direction to your life.

Take the time to put your goals in writing. Include a strategy for reaching them. Beneath each goal, list “mini-goals” that can be accomplished in a matter of hours, days or weeks as well as the more ambitious “grand-goals” that may take years to complete. Refer to this plan throughout the year.

But can a goal list really help motivate you? Absolutely! Written goals will keep you connected to your dreams.

Relax. Remember, your plans are not written in stone. As you grow and change, so will your goals. Revise them as your vision changes.

Another key factor in getting and staying motivated is networking with like-minded people. Isolation can kill dreams. People with similar dreams and goals will encourage you to reach even higher than you expected. Mutual support is motivating.

Keep your momentum going by connecting with others either in your community or online.

Many successful people report that finding the right networking group was a turning point in their personal or professional growth.

Sharing ideas, expertise and experience is also an invaluable aspect of motivation. Other people can re-energize you when you slump or feel overwhelmed. Keep high energy people in your circle. They will help you keep the fun in your process.

Take a little time to review your life’s activities. Are they inspiring and motivating? If not, take these tips to renew the joy in your life.
